Khan Toke : The welcome of Lanna
In the past you could find Khan Toke Dinner at someone's home, but nowadays, Khan Toke Dinner is served at a unique restaurant called Khan Toke Dinner Restaurant.
Khan Toke dinner is a traditional Northern Thailand dinner. Khan Toke is a short-round table that can stand on the floor. Northern Thai food will be served on this table such as Nam Prik Ong (mince pork with tomato paste), Nam Prik Noom (young chilly paste), fried chicken, crispy pork skin, and all of them will be eaten with sticky rice.
Not only will the food be served, you could be treated with a Cultural Show on stage. A set of performances will be done quite closely to the audience. The special show is rarely seen today, such as Twelve swords dance, which is a man with twelve swords in both his hands, and is quite amazing. Also the Victory Drum Dance (Glong Sabad Chai), which has a very strong rhythm which will make you feel exhilerated. In ancient times, these dances were done before a warrior stepped to the battle field to encourage them before fighting.
Khan Toke dinner is filling and fun!
