Songkran Water Festival

10/04/2010 - 17/04/2010
Place: City Moat, Chiang Mai

Not only a fun festival to remedy the hot feeling from the summer weather, Songkran festival has another important occasion for people to go back home. Many people in Thailand don't work at their hometown, they are working in the capital city or anywhere they can find a job. These people will go back home on Songkran Festival to pay respect to their parents, make the merit together at a local temple, and catch up with friends and family they have not seen a year.

Chiang Mai has the biggest Songkran Festival in Thailand because the people still hold closely to their traditions and culture. There are usually three days of Songkran here.

1st day we call "Wan Da" or "Preparing day", where villagers will prepare everything to make the merit, such as foods and flowers.

Welcome to Chiang Mai!!

The Chiang Mai Urban Adventures team are passionate about their hometown. From the food and its amazingly friendly people to its history and all those little hidden gems that few tourists get to see. Join them in on an adventure as they introduce you to the Rose of the North, a city they lovingly call home.
