Much more than a river cruise; our Thai guide took us by public pick up truck from our hotel to a temple. As a former monk for many years our guide explained at length all about the religion and traditions of Thailand, then we left alms at the temple and were blessed by a monk. The boat trip included a riverside lunch stop with local food and drink. At the flower market we saw all kinds of goods for sale, and were further informed about the supposedly edible (insects etc.) produce. Afterwards we were taken back to our hotel. We were the only participants on the trip. We liked our guide who was helpful and friendly, his English was good, but with a strong Thai accent. Telephone confirmation prior to excursion was confusing/ineffective for us, but fortunately our hotel was able to sort it out for us.
